"Lá Domhanda na Meabhairshláinte" "One doesn't have to operate with great malice to do great harm. The absence of empathy & understanding are sufficient." -Charles M Blow As someone who works with teenagers and young adults today is of particular importance. I regularly see the suffering of anxiety and lack of self esteem and the devastating effects it has on the ability to cope with everday life. What I have learned over the years is that many people have difficulty understanding why someone may be angry, sad or upset. Sometimes, they may not even realise the affect their own behaviour is having on those around them. That is why you cannot put enough emphasis on the importance of empathy. It is easy to say be kind to one another & to sympathise, but the ability to see things from another's perspective, feel things from another's perspective and truely understand what it feels like to walk a mile in their shoes is where the learning comes from - and where we can truly empower those who need it most. #worldmentalhealthday
